We have purchased a new horse from Melbourne which we hope will bring a end to our stayer search. Insurgency from the astute Mick Price yard looks to be an up and coming stayer with a lot of scope and a lot of upside to him. His pedigree is something brilliant, his Sire, Street Cry, is a Dubai World Cup winner and has already produced a Kentucky Derby winner (Street Sense) and Whobegotyou who won the Group 2 Stutt Stakes at Moonee Valley by three lengths and is a possible Caulfield Cup starter this year. His dam is by Lord Ballina making her on the same cross as World Champion Sprinter, Silent Witness (Mr Prospector x Lord Ballina). Insurgency won his last start over 1600m at Seymour after sitting three and four wide throughout the race and hitting the front at the 200m before fighting off a late challenge with 50m to run. That win was his third up run from a spell and second up he had no luck over 1400m, sitting three wide without cover and fighting on to only get beaten 1.9 lengths. This horse is a great opportunity for some of my clients from Melbourne and local people from Bunbury to own a horse with a chance to win his way through his grades and go on to bigger and better things.
